The Making offers a candid glimpse into one boy’s journey of maturation from successfully completing college to a failed life of illegal cannabis cultivation. The story is told from the eyes of the nix identified author as he ponders through his relationships with four specific girls (who are all friends) and his very sedentary, yet intricate life covertly growing weed. Introduced with a deeply philosophical premise of universal salvation and the concept of universal social amalgamation, the narration is intended to express, from the viewpoint of an educated individual who society would come to throw away, the multiple dimensions of the human abstract of love in its many forms. It is based on true events.

It is the last year of the twentieth century. It is a time for the questioning of everything. The political landscapes of the human community are traumatized by unrest in the Middle East. The great economic powers insinuate an impending global systems disaster at midnight, on the final night, as the numbers change. The US public school systems are divided on how and what should be taught about our human origins and the very nature of morality. The National Household Survey on Drug Abuse reports that the use of controlled substances amongst the nation's high school students is at a peak level. It is a derailing time of transition for everyone when three of these students; a naive adult child, a conflicted lyrical genius, and a delinquent percussion savant, will find themselves together at a small university in the middle of the Sunshine State. Mix in a bass playing drug dealer with his own concept of justice and a crooked, middle-age Realtor lacking of remorse and what unfolds is a coming of age story like no other. Triangles of love, lust, greed, and manipulation abound in an environment of social impositions, dire realizations, and sought after escapes. Some will visit Mercy Town and call it a tragedy. Others will call it an awakening. No one can deny that it is real.

DreamVenture
A Spiritual Quest
By: Maria L. Ray with Aric C. Ray

"DreamVenture is a marvelous literary work..." - Evelyn Lincoln, author of My Twelve Years with JFK and Kennedy and Johnson

"DreamVenture is the poetry of love of family..." - Dr. Mary Cathryne Park, Ph.D. late professor of English

This story is based on the real dream experience of Maria Ray which took place in June of 1990. From where did it come and where will it end? DreamVenture offers a creative work of fiction derived from the repercusions of a dream. It interweaves elements of metaphysics, philosophy, and intrigue into a vivid combination of plot and characterization. The author, with the help of her son, utilizes a stream of conscious narrative format which offers a distinctive tableau of spiritual settings and motifs.

As Isa and Ivan, together with their children, experience an evocative "dreamventure," they explore many realms of consciousness and investigate such existential themes as the nature of the soul, the power of the Divine as opposed to the concept of free will, and the unending bonds between loved ones.
